We are always afraid to step out of our comfort zone and do new things. Fear comes as a part of growing and it is normal to be wary of new things. But if your fear becomes greater than your desire for growth, then you run the risk of becoming stagnant. Your comfort zone is your enemy and it kills you by not letting you grow.
Life is another name for a series of changes and new experiences. You are alive only when you are constantly being challenged. You learn from every single situation that you get into. But if you have the habit of always being in your comfort zone, you’re dying. Not that you’re literally dying, but your enthusiasm to live goes away.
You get afraid of the outcome even before you take action. This paralyzes you in a way and you’re no longer able to live fully. You want everything to run ‘smoothly’ and at a ‘normal’ pace. But what is ‘normal’? In life, the only ‘normal’ is change. Change is the only constant. And if you fail to change then you fail to live. This proves that your comfort zone is your enemy, it restricts you.
Knowing how the ‘comfort zone’ mentality is harming you, you can’t be complacent. Breaking free of this comfort zone requires a change in attitude on your part. You need to realize that you can’t take anything for granted. Things change, that is their nature, and so you also have to change. Your comfort zone is your enemy when it comes to relationships or business. Both need constant improvement and change to remain fresh and relevant.
The second most important thing is to face your fears. We all have certain fears, but we can’t just hide from them forever. We will encounter them at one or the other point in our lives. And that time we will be terrified of it. So it’s better to be prepared for the worst. Face your fears before they catch you unexpectedly!
Very often we shy away from new things. This moves us away from growth and happiness. Next time you go out to dine, go to that new restaurant you wanted to check out. Or maybe you wanted to take guitar classes but decided against it due to fear of not being good. So get yourself a guitar and join a class. You will be afraid at first but soon you’ll start enjoying it!
Growing is fun. Learning new things every day is fun. But being in your comfort zone isn’t. Your comfort zone is your enemy and it will only make you regret not doing something – not challenging yourself. You need to realize this and try getting out of it more often. It is easy and we know you can do it.
