When Messi was only 3-years-old, he was sold to a petting zoo at Penza. But since he was very weak and small, he couldn’t survive either in the wild or in a zoo. Hence the staff at the petting zoo had decided to put him to sleep. Aleksandr and Mariya came at this time and saved the puma. Now Messi lives with them in their apartment!

For the couple, it was a “love at first sight” when they saw Messi at the petting zoo. They gave some thought to the ethical side of keeping a puma at home. They also considered the logistics that will be needed to keep a big cat at their home. But they decided to bring Messi with them to their apartment. Messi soon started gaining health. The couple is extremely happy about having Messi at home but their cat Kira probably doesn’t like Messi much. Animals also get jealous after all!

Messi had to be trained like a dog, even though he is called a “kitten”. He knows roughly ten commands. The big cat goes for walks and eats chicken, turkey, and raw beef. He also gets to bath in a bathtub. What a luxurious life!

Many people loved the couple and how they were taking care of Messi. But a few others criticized them, asking them to send him to a wildlife sanctuary. The couple does not encourage people to domesticate wild animals.

People mostly call these big cats as puma but they have many other names as well. Red tiger, mountain lion, and cougar are all puma’s names! The couple is now planning to get a friend for Messi- a leopard!

Well, Messi is surely living the dream life that any pet would like to live. Long live Messi!
